psydii Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Ok can you try re-running netdiag on a client while logged on as a Domain Admin. I'm hoping those errors will vanish.
jjohnsoncantell Posted April 15, 2011 Author Posted April 15, 2011 done, here's the result.netdiag1.txt
ZeroHour Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Initial look suggests your dns may not have reverse lookups setup possibly. Also when you migrated did you have any Cert Authorities on the old servers?
psydii Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 (edited) Hmm. I'd be surprised if DCDiag gave such a clean bill of health if a DC was missing its PTR record. But since 99% of all AD issues are in fact DNS issues, best confirm it's there! What does AD DS BPA have to say? How many other client machines are affected? What OS are they running? I note that your laptop appears to be Windows 2000. Can you 'sacrifice' one showing the same symptoms? If so, remove it form the domain and try adding it back. Any IPSec policies enabled anywhere (say, on the DCs)? Edit: Another possibility is that there is a mismatch between netdiag version and the sp level of your laptop. Ensure both are SP4, and some of the errors aren't in fact red herrings. Also since the information presented in netfiag conflicts with your statement regarding XP SP3, perhaps your copy of netdiag needs updating to XP SP2 (the latest available)? Again to eliminate red herrings. Edited April 15, 2011 by psydii
psydii Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Is there a Firewall on DC01? Is there a firewall on your clients?
sukh Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 @jjohnsoncantell - Have you posted the BPA report. Can you also check the DNS settings on DC01. The report will be very helpful. Sukh 1
psydii Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 (edited) I'm going AFK for the rest of the day. Best of luck, hopefully sukh, ZH and the others are still around, and and don't forget the MS PSS option! Edited April 15, 2011 by psydii 1
jjohnsoncantell Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 Forgive the late reply guys, its been a hectic few days. Just got back to this today, had to put it out of my mind for the weekend as i wasnt gonna let it ruin my weekend away... I feel like such a fool as something i should have checked and honestly thought i had checked, the blooming default gateway, was incorrect on dc01 which held all the roles. The air was blue here when i realised what id done. The odd thing is that its the first server i rebuilt and i hadnt had any initial problems until i bought the second controller in which was setup correctly. Unbelieveable i made such a basic mistake. Nevertheless, thankyou very much for all your help, its a huge relief to know there are people who are so willing to help. Thanks again guys.
