Removed Control Panel from Start Menu

Hi Ladies and Gents...

 

Here is the problem (and it probably something that I am over looking).

 

Windows 7, Server 2008R2 domain.

 

For a group of users I wish to have the control panel available (to change ease of access settings etc).

 

I've copied an existing group policy applied it to the correct OU/group, made sure that

 

'Start Menu & Taskbar\Remove programs on the settings menu' and

'Control Panel\Prohibit Access to the control panel' are not configured.

 

But Control Panel still does not display on the Start Menu. I have ensured that the new users have new profiles.

 

The control panel is available (through a shortcut) with the appropriate visable cpl's available.

 

Are there any other settings that would remove the control panel icon?

 

RSOP has been checked on the two settings above and is correct.

Is old policy which has the setting configured. Is this still being applied to the users?

 

Check gpresults and see if both policies are being applied.

Hi Sukh,

 

I have checked and as I have separeted the OU's to which the policy applies the old policy should not effect the user. I have double checked and this is the case.

 

RSOP and gpresult .html shine no light on this when run on the target pc in the users context.

SOLVED:

 

I had created a GPP for the Start Menu and accidently removed the control panel from the Start Menu settings. This was in a GPO that affected all users, but as GPP's don't show up in RSOP data and that is where I got confused!

Glad you solved it. Group Policy Results wizard in ‘Group Policy Management’ (GPMC ) 2.0 will show GPP.
