Just bought a LINKSYS ADSL GATEWAY 4-PORT MODEL MODEL:WAG54G VER 1.2 for £5.00 with FREE p&p on ebay. Can people tell me if I have got a good deal here? I like my Cisco equipment but don't know whether I have got a good deal here or not as it sounds too good to be true with the price being so cheap for what I would see as a top brand router.

I had one of these going back 2004-5 time. It was pretty good as I recall, but can't remember which version.

 

I remember there was quite an active open-source firmware development community around for linksys routers, although I never actually tried any of the ones available for download. it didn't seem broke, so I didn't want to fix it. I guess for a fiver, it might be worth playing with a bit.

 

The wireless burnt-out after about 2 years, though, closely followed by the switch ports.

 

As long as it's all working ok, I would say you got your money's worth........mine cost me £85 or thereabouts.
