I want to create an imaging server, and would quite like to use the Linux box we got sitting in the server room. I want to be able to image our Windows machines upto the Linux server. Does anyone do this and how do you do it. We currently have Fedora Core 4 on the server.

I use Freenas to hold our ghost images. I then boot into a DOS IP session, run ghost and dump the imgaes from there. If I am ghosting more than 1 PC, I run the ghost cast server, map a drive to the freenas box and then take it from there....

[ not sure if this is of any help but it may give you some ideas... ]

I use the Symantec Ghost Solution Suite. It is installed on a server with a gigabit network card and with a ~800GB volume to store the images on. It takes on average 20 minutes (on relatively recent hardware) to reimage a computer room.
