tech_guy Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 I once had to explain to the police what I was doing at 1am outside my own house trying to open a Ford Escort with a bent coat hanger. The car belonged to me and my wife had locked the keys inside - both sets of keys......
K.C.Leblanc Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 The locking on my Chrysler Neon was getting so temperamental that I doubt someone could have stolen it even with the keys. Maybe that's why not many get stolen.

maniac Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 My mum had her MK2 vauxhall astra stolen in about 2001. Was a sad day really, as before it was my mums car it was the family car, and took us on holidays all over the place throughout my teenage years. How a 1.4 Astra coped with 4 people plus luggage plus trailer tent on some pretty long drives I will never know, but it was a trooper and never let us down. Anyway, it was found abandoned about 10 miles away and recovered by the police, eventually written off by the insurance due to the damage done during the theft. The funny thing is they'd tried to steal the radio, but couldn't get it out - kudos to me for fitting it properly. Shame they saw the need to shove a screw driver through the front of it in their efforts thou, they didn't even have the front panel for it so god knows what they thought they could do with it if they got it out. Also had a very old golf I owned stolen once, for which I was pleased because I was trying to get rid of it. That was also found abandoned several months later.
bondbill2k2 Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 My 1st car (4 years ago) was a 1990 mini, and 3 of my mates also had old minis as we found out we could get then cheap, good on fuel, fun to drive and most of all Classic Insurance about £350 a year for 18 years olds (they have since changed it to 25 + ) The key for my mini opened the other 3 minis doors and my ignition key would actually work on 1. Saying this I did however open the door on my mini with a piece of slate more then once
