This jobs been advertised directly before but have just had clearance to supply candidates to the school. I currently have a contractor in as an interim whilst we look for permanent candidates so have a good understanding of the network. Ideally want to interview next week due to the ridiculous easter break we seem to have this year

 

Network/ICT Manager

 

Secondary school based in Slough requires a Network/ICT Manager capable of leading and developing a small ICT support team to transform their IT provision. The ideal candidate will have a strong network and software knowledge coupled with an ability to communicate technical ideas to teaching and non teaching staff alike. Essential technical skills and knowledge include: Windows Server 2003; Windows Server 2008; Apple Macs and Windows XP Professional, Squid Proxy, Backup Exec and Exchange 2007, ProCurve switches, Active Directory and administering a managed wireless solution (Ruckus). Knowledge of scripting and web coding (XHTML and CSS) and sims would be great

 

You will need to have demonstrable leadership qualities including budget management, strategic vision, managing security, establishing helpdesk and priorities, reviewing service improvements and managing change, devising and implementing the development plan and implementing FITS or similar

 

Opportunities for growth and development including managing the installation of new build ICT network and develop the 2 technician ICT team. Candidates with systems administration, ICT technician and senior ICT technician job titles will be considered if you can demonstrate an ability to manage and lead.

 

Salary £26-27,800 plus local government terms and conditions

Keeps coming back, that one. When I was looking, I applied for it at least twice. Evidently, nobody stays in the role for very long.

I have a contractor in there currently manning the fort so to speak and like many schools with cuts in spending, it has its problems, but no more than any other school in a similar demographic

 

There is certainly lots of room to improve, the environment is good I thought, very well behaved kids

 

They are quite picky and being in Slough means you are surrounded by larger IT companies so it's difficult to attract staff, I think thats a major issue
