Task Manager Blocked

Task manager is blocked for students, but lately they have found that if they hold down the shrortcut keys for TM (CTRL+SHIRT+ESC) for more than a few seconds it opens up thousands of error messages as show in the attached image.

 

Has anybody ever seen this before, and if so do you know how i can stop it.

I know a way of stopping it, put them in heads detention

Don't imagine there's a fix for that. The message is an inevitable side effect of restricting TM, and as the keyboard will keep on sending the shortcut, it'll keep producing the message.

 

I wouldn't worry about it - there's nothing you can do and it's their own time they're wasting. ...Which they know and are probably taking advantage of!

What if you just delete the taskmgr.exe and don't block it. Probably still get an error.

Can't you just ignore it, or does the error take priority and stop access to rest of PC?

Put a script on that kills that process every few seconds.

Your GPOs are doing what they're supposed to do. I wouldn't advise deleting taskmgr.exe. Even if you put in a Software Restriction Policy you'll still get the same message.

 

Surely this is another example of teacher telling pupil not to do these things and not a technician's job!

This is not a technology problem.

Agreed, I think this is more a classroom management issue rather than a problem with the computer setup.

 

Personally I like Galways idea...

 

Vikpaw - I don't think deleting TaskManager is a good idea really.

It wasn't a permanent solution, but to me it's low level unrest really. kids messing around with stuff they can. you block it somehow, and they'll move on to something else. So ultimately the teacher should be dealing with it, getting parents in will be overkill.

 

I reckon they've moved on to something else by now..?
