Public accessible roads through the School Grounds

Problem - large school shares a site with both a primary school, a Leisure Centre, FE College Building, Fire Station and a Youth Club. The Crescent Road that all this is sited on is open to public access 24 / 7.

 

Especially at drop off and pick up times the Road is very congested and idiot drivers both park on pavements (forcing our kids to walk in the road) and double yellows which often makes Coach access chaotic.

 

The Road has double yellows but both Old Bill and Council Enforcement (Traffic Wardens as we used to know em!) claim they have no enforcement powers.

 

Have any other schools had the same sort of issue and if so how have they sorted it?

Surely the fire station has some opinion on the road being hard to traverse in large vehicles??

 

From the response you've had it seems like the road has not been adopted and is treated as private. It is therefore down to the landowner(s) to enforce any restrictions. If the road has been adopted, I'm pretty sure it's down to the council.
