Free Finance Management Packages: GnuCash And GnuCash Portable

A while ago I saw a request for information about finance packages [the OP was hoping that the application would be free]

 

I found these packages today:

 

Link 1: Free Accounting Software | GnuCash

 

Link 2: GnuCash, Portable Edition 2.2.4

 

I have searched the forums and I can't find the post where the request was made. While I haven't used these packages myself I thought it a close enough match to the original request to post here and hope that it is found by the person who created the thread I am recalling.
