[javascript] Opening page in new browser window on page load, but only on first visit.

Hi all, hoping somebody can help with this -

 

Is their an easy way to achieve the following -

 

When a student logs into the VLE they're directed to their homepage. On the first visit to this homepage, I would like a new browser window, loaded with another website to open up. On subsequent visits to the homepage, I don't want the browser window to open up again, (unless they were to log out and log back in again for example - basically I don't want it loading each and every time they visit the page during one browsing session, once a session is fine).

 

Does anybody know of a solution, perhaps in javascript that could easily achieve this?
