ATI Tech Support for FirePro 2460 MutliView

Does anybody know of a tech support contact for ATI trying to get some pre sales tech support on these cards.

 

I know they were discussed as part of another regarding multipl monitors setups.

 

I need to know exactly what I need if I wanted to run 4 dvi outputs from them to support up to 4 Neovo E-17DA monitors per card as there was confusion over active versus passive adaptors.

 

Lindy have displayport cables with what they call active adaptors but not apparently what is required to use 4 dvi monitors.

 

Otherwise what if I stick to VGA only can I run 4 vga displays with no issues?

 

I'm trying to build some 8 seat multipoint server machines and need to know the setup will work before investing money in it.

You definitely need active adapters.

 

 

To enable and drive 3 or more non-DisplayPort monitors at one time, the additional non-DisplayPort monitors must be connected with an active DisplayPort dongle.

It looks like even AMDs new £540 Radeon HD 6990 doesn't support more than three legacy displays without resorting to active adapters.

AMD clearly leads the industry on the display output front. The only drawback is the need for adapters to support "legacy" displays with HDMI or DVI inputs. Fortunately, every Radeon HD 6990 will ship with a trio of adapter dongles to convert those Mini-DP ports to serve other standards: one passive HDMI type, one passive single-link DVI type, and one active single-link DVI type. Out of the box, the 6990 should be able to drive a trio of single-link DVI monitors, then. The reason that third adapter is of the "active" variety is that the GPU has a limited number of timing sources for its display outputs. If you'd like to drive more than three "legacy" displays with a 6990, you'll need additional active adapters. Similarly, driving a second or third dual-link DVI display, such as a 30" panel, will require additional active, dual-link-capable dongles.
