sippo Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I'm looking for some XP Raid drivers for a compaq CQ62-220SA. Can anyone help? When I go to install XP, it blue screens at me
glennda Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 is it deffo raid? I've had a load of hp laptops that you have to change the sata mode in the bios so you can install XP - might be the same?
sukh Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Hi Have you seen Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver for Microsoft Windows XP Compaq Presario CQ62-220SA Notebook PC - HP technical support (United Kingdom - English) Regards Sukh
sippo Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 Yeah, I tried to look for that change in BIOS but couldn't find anything whatsoever.
sippo Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 Does anyone have experience of dual boot, if I can get that to work for Win 7 and XP, it would be a temp work around.
sukh Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Hi There are loads of articles which help you do this. Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP - Windows 7 Forums Search google. Regards Sukh
sippo Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 I don't think that will even work, because of the RAID drivers. I put in an XP disc, and when it gets to the setup it blue screens...
sukh Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Hi You mention RaiD drivers, the service book for your model mentions only SATA. Was windows 7 originally shipped with the laptop? Thanks Sukh
Arthur Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 By RAID drivers, don't you mean AHCI? You wouldn't be able to create much of a RAID array with only one drive. Also, why not just leave Windows 7 on it?
glennda Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Also are you sure there is no problems with the RAM? As I think the installer's boot to a RAM drive while loading all the files etc to the hard disk. Maybe Memtest is needed
pantscat Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Is it an XP SP3 disc? I doubt it's a RAID Driver - much more likely to be SATA compatibility. Look in the BIOS for anything labelled "SATA mode", "IDE Compatibiltiy", "Disk Controller mode" - basically you want to change it from native (SATA...) to compatible (emulating IDE...).
Arthur Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 When I go to install XP, it blue screens at me You will need to integrate the SATA drivers into your XP CD so that Windows "sees" your hard drive. There's a really good guide on how to do this (without resorting to using nLite) here... http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=413
sippo Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 My mistake it is SATA drivers. It came with win7 but we ideally need XP on them for security reasons, we as a school aren't reading for Win7 yet! @pantscat Usually there is something in the bios but nothing whatsoever. I've never had an issue before because you can change the drive to IDE or auto-detect. The bios is InsydeH20 Rev3.5 @Arthur Thanks I'll give that a go.
sippo Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 Didn't work Arthur! Grrrr. I've got 20 of these to sort! I have an external floppy drive but am struggling to find the sata drivers (if that's what it is!).
sukh Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Hi I'm not a HP specialist, but I do deal with them. If you have the Service Tag and Seriel Number of your laptop, you can go to the HP website and have a LIVE chat with a support representative (for free) who confirm and put you in the right direction for the drivers. Let me know if you have issues and I'll try. Thanks Sukh
sippo Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 Thanks Sukh for all your help. I have tried that but didn't get anywhere, so emailed them yesterday. Hopefully they'll get back to me today!
sukh Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Hi Did you try the link that I posted earlier. I have just downloaded the driver and am looking for specifics. When you download it mentions graphics driver but is supposed to be for Stirage (SATA). I have just extracted and am looking at it. Will let you know if this will help you. Have a look too. Thanks Sukh
sukh Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Hi I have some drivers for you to try. Have you got a FTP site that I can upload to? Thanks Sukh
sippo Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 I haven't no. But will pm you my email address?
sukh Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Hi Sippo I sent them through, are you sure they have not been blocked at your end? Sent at 10:25, I've had no NDR. Let me know. Thanks Sukh
sippo Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 Nothing blocked this end. Can you try yousendit.com?
