Rawns Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 (edited) I'm just wondering if anyone here is testing SOLUS3 at al and how they are finding it? Edited March 9, 2011 by vikpaw typo
matt40k Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Yes, alright, few bugs here and there, it's getting there however.
budgester Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Need to upgrade the database to 2008 first then will try SOLUS 3, gave it a go last year, but had some issues with S drive mapping.
Cache Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Just been reading the handbook and am about to ask a very stupid and probably very obvious question Do you use Trusted or SQL authentication when installing Solus3 and does it really make any difference which you use?
matt40k Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 First version had to be trusted, they've added SQL logins. Both have +'s and -'s
Cache Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 So in terms of Solus 3 are there any benefits over one or the other?
matt40k Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 SOLUS3 over SOLUS2? Loads, lower end-user permissions, better scheduling, upgrades on startup rather then when the user starts SIMS, central deployment, monitoring of status of deployments (new, updates etc), list goes on. I think I've found a few bugs in the new 3.3.27 version that need fixing, still could be me - it's been one of those weeks. Brain overload. Will find out tomorrow.
Cache Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Sorry, meant in terms of SQL or Windows Auth for Solus 3 Looking forward to getting Solus 3 up and running though
NorthernSands Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Sorry to raise an old thread, but I thought it'd better here than starting a new one. I'm probably going to look at implementing SOLUS3 in the Summer, but our installation might not be that straight forward. Between then and now I may well be setting up a new school / SIMS DB, in a new instance, on our SIMS box. I've had a scan through the SOLUS3 docs and it talks about either an LA deployment with several schools, or in a school with one DB. Anyone out there installed it on one Server with two instances each with it's own SIMS DB (and Discover DB)? I fear this one's going to be a head-scratcher for me.
