I am just in the process of setting up a new schools aggreement (EES) and wondered about adding anything else to make life easier in the future. We are running two physical servers with 4 VMs (2008 R2) in total so thought about the benefits of SCVVM (or whatever it is called). We are also planning to deploy W7 site wide so thought about the other System Center blah blah blah add-ons.

Can you give me some opinions on the benefits of these addons and whether it is worth adding them now.

Thanks.

There is a System Centre Management Suite bundle you can buy under EES, which gives you all the System Centre products. It's available in Standard, Enterprise and Datacenter version depending on how many servers you're managing. Think Std is around £18, Enterprise around £58 and I don't know for Datacenter.

We were going to buy SCVMM to manage our hyper-v virtual servers. After pricing it all up it was only around another £180 for the full suite

that included Data Protection Manager 2010, SCVMM, System Center Config Manager

We currently have yet to install Config Man, and cant really use DPM2010 as it doesnt support NAS or USB backups and the local drives arent big enough!!!

This is unless we buy another 3rd party addon called Firestreamer that allows you to backup to USB

Worth checking the prices for suite :)
