rad Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 OH works for a small company who have an outsourced ICT guy who does their email setup etc. they are having issues with emails bouncing back from webmail accounts, getting the following reply: The original message was received at Fri, 4 Mar 2011 07:56:05 GMT from [192.168.7.34] ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- <@hotmail.co.uk> (reason: 550 SC-001 Unfortunately, messages from [ip address removed] weren't sent. Please contact your Internet serv...ock list. You can also refer your provider to http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx#errors.) ----- Transcript of session follows ----- ... while talking to mx4.hotmail.com.: >>> MAIL From:<> SIZE=443159 <<< 550 SC-001 Unfortunately, messages from [ip address removed] weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list. You can also refer your provider to http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx#errors. 554 5.0.0 Service unavailable Their IT guy recommends people change their email accounts....
theriver Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Suddently not being able to send to a domain that's always worked before is often related to spam blacklists. Have a look at the page referenced in the email: Troubleshooting and scroll to the entry for 550 SC001, which says: Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. Reasons for rejection may be related to content with spam-like characteristics To check this out, get the public IP address of the mail server and head on over to Email Blacklist Check - See if your server is blacklisted and look it up.
