soveryapt Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 HELP! Ok, server needed a restart after some driver updates and I'm back with the PortMap.sys BSOD again, so I'm looking for how I sort this out please .. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Andy
soveryapt Posted March 3, 2011 Author Report Posted March 3, 2011 Any ideas? I ran the Startup Repair function and the good news is I no longer get a BSOD, the bad news is that the system hangs with the mouse cursor on the screen after the Starting Windows screen, but then it just reboots .. no errors, just reboots .. GAH! I think I might just reinstall the server as I think it's beyond saving .. just trying to avoid the inevitable if anyone has any bright sparky ideas? Thanks Andy
soveryapt Posted March 3, 2011 Author Report Posted March 3, 2011 Full server rebuild and setup of shares etc .. DONE .. It best not happen again!
soveryapt Posted March 4, 2011 Author Report Posted March 4, 2011 And I found the root of my problem .. CA ArcServe Backup r12.5 .. it breaks Server 2008 R2 .. Installed the Backup Software this morning, did the required reboot (so it can access open files etc) and BSOD with the PortMap.sys referenced again .. Just in case anyone else has a similar set up ..
