ben604 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Hello! Just been digging about in our server cabinets and found our Main GB switches all have the ability to take fibre connections. I then found some spare SFPs in another cabinet and thought, what if I stuck one of these in one of our 4200G switches and connected that directly to our Promise Vtrak E310fs, could we have ourselves a SAN thingy?! I'm not sure if that switch will talk directly to the Promise box?! If it will, any pointers on configuring the thing? Thanks! Ben.
bio Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Nope thats not possible.. That SAN uses Fibre Channel ports so you'll need a fiber channel switch for this. The 3com 4200 can't do this. bio..
