[ms office - 2007] MAC Document saved as .doc but won't open in MS Office Word

The Training Space recently provided a DVD containing resource for Primary Curriculum re-design.

 

Teachers tried to open the files on it and some (mix of Word and Excel) open as they should but others bring up an error MSWRD632 Tried the various fixes a Google brings up and still no joy. It looks to me as if the documents in question have been produced on a MAC and just given a .doc extension.

 

I have been in touch with the originator by e-mail and await a response.

 

Anyone else come across this issue - if so did you manage to solve it?
