Chuckster Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 How do you share a folder from a 2008 R2 server? I know how it can be down in 2003 but 2008 R2 seems very different. I've created my folder and I'm assuming to allow specific groups of people access to this folder is undertaken under the security tab and not the sharing tab?
36Degrees Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 As with 2003 you need to set Share and NTFS permissions. The main difference is that the default share permissions for 2003 was Everyone read whereas 2008 only gives default share permission to the creator.
sukh Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Hi, To share a folder or a drive by using the Windows interface Open Computer Management. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Yes. In the console tree, click System Tools, click Shared Folders, and then click Shares. On the Action menu, click New Share. Follow the steps in the Create a Shared Folder Wizard, and then click Finish. Regards Sukh
