Garfoldo Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Hi all, Does anyone know how to, or is there a definitive guide on the installation for iTALC, other by a manual method. The Network Setup is W23003 R2 and XPSP3 Clients with Version 1.0.13. Has anyone installed the client PC's with the key, opened up the application as an exception in the firewall on the client and 'hidden' the iTALC ICON (ONLY) in the notification area? Any Group Policy guides would be appreciated or advice given to assist in a speedy install. Many thanks..Garfoldo
dezt Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I've used a package called wpkg. Do a search on google for it. It allows you to create silent installers for programs, such as italc, which runs as a startup script. I've found it really useful. I'll see if there's any info I can fInd for you tomorrow at work 1
camel Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) +1 for wpkg, is a great bit of kit. you could start to look at italc v2 as this seems to incorporate AD as an additional auth method. w7 support too. to use wpkg to deploy, visit wpkg.org for silent installers configurations. once installed, configure a shared folder to store the public keys and deploy a reg setting to each client to point italc to the share. there are other reg settings that you could use such as hide icon set ports etc. then i used the netsh firewall cmd to enable open the correct ports. Admiral208 Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I used a script at my old school. Installed on one computer manually, saved the installation settings, then the script looked for the default installation folder, if it wasnt there it called the install with the install settings and a silent switch. Not sure about the icon in the notification area but you could add a reg hack in the script.
6Foot2 Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Looking at WKPG now. I want to try deploying CorelDraw using this. Can anyone let me know where I put Settings.XML? From the notes I am following I can't decide. Is it in the server share [WKPG] or somewhere on the client [Windows/system or windows/system32 perhaps?] Thanks.
dezt Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 From what i've just looked at on the wpkg website, you create the settings.xml file by running wpkginst.exe, then store it in your wpkg share and when you push wpkg out to your clients using psexec you specify the settings.xml file location there. Here's the link Push Install WPKG with Psexec - WPKG | Open Source Software Deployment and Distribution
