How to obtain Windows 7 Enterprise Media

Hi all,

 

I am finding it exteremly diffitcult to get my hands on Win 7 Enterprise, can anyone on here point me in the right direction?

 

I have spoken to my Software reseller and they have told me I am allowed to install Enterprise within our agreement however they can only ship a Win 7 pro disk.

If you have a School's Agreement you can download it from the Volume Licensing Center. That's the only place I have found it to be available.

I would try to get access to the VL website first (as Mr Ben mentioned); but failing that, would the evaluation media work?

Microsoft no longer ship media. Your only way is to download the ISO from the Volume Licensing as stated earlier and burn to CD/DVD.

Just to mention it, but the Windows 7 SP1 ISO's are available as of yesterday on the MS Licensing site now

 

Additionally, I'm finding that the Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise 64bit download doesnt fully complete.

 

Might be my end although I've tried a few browsers with the same results. Its meant to be ~3GB but finishes at 2.5GB. Trying the Download Manager way now to see if that completes successfully.

I had some problems with the Downloads for awhile and it turned out to be the settings on my Sonicwall Firewall and that fact that the downloads are from Akamai. In case anyone needs the solution for Sonicwall in the future, it is:

 

The problem is with the Security Services blocking HTTP Byte-Range requests. The download managers do not follow a strict byte flow. I'm guessing this is so they continue a download later on after stopping. With that being known you must change the setting in the SonicWall to allow HTTP Byte-Range requests.The setting to check is under Security Services->Gateway Anti-Virus->Configure Gateway AV Settings. Now check "Enable HTTP Byte-Range requests with Gateway AV". This should now allow your Download Manager to work. The weird thing SW did was put the setting under the Gatway Anti-Virus Section even though it affects ALL security settings. That is why you had to turn off ALL Security Settings to get it to work.

Windows 7 install discs are edition-specific — if you've got a valid license key, you still need the right disc for installation. The ei.cfg Removal Utility, however, lets you create a new, universal installation ISO for Windows 7.

 

Although your Windows installation disc may say "Home Premium Edition," it still contains the other versions (such as Pro or Ultimate) on the disc — it just has a very small file called ei.cfg that tells the disc what version to install. The ei.cfg Removal Utility creates a new ISO of your install disc that ignores this file, thus letting you choose what edition you want when you start the installer.

 

While this tool is especially useful for computer technicians who have to install Windows a lot, it's also nice to have for those of us that tend to lose discs often—especially in this day and age of emailed product keys. Now, if you need to reinstall Windows but can't find your disc, you can just borrow a friend's—even if it's an edition that's different than yours. You just need let the installer know which edition matches your product key (Note: Your disc still needs to be the same kernel as your key (i.e. 32 or 64-bit).

Unfortunately it's not that simple. The Enterprise edition is on a physically separate disc so deleting the ei.cfg file on a Home/Pro/Ultimate disc won't work.

 

You can however use imageX (from the WAIK) to copy the enterprise edition from its install.wim to another so that you can create a disc which includes every edition (including the 32-bit & 64-bit versions of each).
