rob_coles Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Just a heads up really, I put sp1 on my test server took a good hour to install. When it rebooted Non-system disk or disk error Replace and strike any key when ready Doh! I've had to boot off from 2008rc2 dvd pressed shift f10 at the welcome/language screen. and run x:\sources\recovery\StartRep.exe which has brought it back to life... .
IanT Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I've just done 1 server with SP1 and installed fine.
eejit Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Bad luck Rob. Installed the SP1 RTM four times so far without problems.
zag Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Worked ok on My Hyper-V servers. Not noticed any difference though since the install. Have they actually changed anything?
eejit Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Bloody hell yes. Dynamic RAM As a joke/test I've seen how far I could push it. How many 2008 R2 servers do you think that you could get running on a five year old desktop motherboard with 8GB RAM? Before SP1 perhaps 8 or 9 if you pushed it. Now - 47 These are just "running" of course - they would be absolutely useless, but still. This is Full Server 2008 R2 Standard btw - not the core OS. Good times...
zag Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I've also noticed Sharepoint 2010 Pre-Requisites wont install once you apply this service pack
RobFuller Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 OT: does anyone know when SP1 for System Centre Virtual Machine Manager to support SP1 for hyper-v will be available?
eejit Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 SCVMM 2008 R2 seems to work fine with it. Is there something in particular that you'd like me to check?
RobFuller Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Can it adjust the dynamic memory settings ok?
