To put it simply, i don't have a clue.

After spending days reading manuals and forums Bacula still remains a mystery to me, and the tutorials offered by Bacula and Ubuntu are not making things any clearer (if anything making it less clear as they seem to skip bits out or they are far to vague)

I am after a real basic step by step on how to create a job, run a job, restore a job. I have got Bconsole up and running on Ubuntu 10.10 Server but I don't know what to type in or the syntax. Or is it all done from the config files?

Probably not what you want to hear but, have you looked at backuppc instead? The documentation is a lot more straightforward and it has file level deduplication and other features which are useful in enterprise. I was really impressed with it and will probably replace our current backup system with it when I've got some spare hardware.

I have had a look at backuppc but it does not look like it backs-up to LTO3 Drive. I am willing to try any ubuntu compatible Backup solution as long as it is free and will backup to LTO3, hence looking at bacula.
