thinking about a network load balence setup with multiple webservers for our Sharepoint, OWA and now xenapp apart from the ports is there any reason why this is a bad idea

I think it would be dangerous to run them all under the same instance of Windows...

 

I assume you intend to have a couple of boxes running the services so that you can load balance or provide failover. I would run XenServer (or maybe Hyper-V) on each box and run 3 Windows VMs. I'm not sure how greedy MOSS frontend and OWA are but XenApp Web Interface uses virtually no resources (my Secure Gateway/Web App VM has 1 CPU and 768MB RAM and doesn't break a sweat).

I agree, VM them out, if its just the owa part of exchange then your probably good with it and MOSS on one but web services have a habit of getting greedy and tricky with resources especially from different vendors. Xenapp may be fine but some stuff like BES can trash the best laied plans of anyone when coexisting.
