can anyone tell me what the uninstall string [used in conjunction with MSIEXEC] is for the suite of Windows Live products: Version: 14.0.8064.206

Contacts: wlcomm.exe

Family Safety: fsui.exe

Installer: wlarp.exe

Mail: wlmail.exe

Messenger: msnmsgr.exe

Photo Gallery: WLXPhotoGallery.exe

Sync: WindowsLiveSync.exe

Toolbar: wltuser.exe

Writer: WindowsLiveWriter.exe

I don't remember installing these [WSUS?] and I want rid of them now because some stations send Sophos reports saying this file has been found. I could disable the alerts for these files but I want rid of these files anyway as our students are constantly trying to find and use them.

I had imagined a script run at station start up like:

If exists "c:\Program Files\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe" MsiExec.exe /X{GUID/CLSID NUMBER}

However the only CLSID number I can find is {508CE775-4BA4-4748-82DF-FE28DA9F03B0} and that is for Version: 8.5.1302.1018.

Does anyone know what I am looking for?

Thanks.

A quick way to find out which product codes to use with MsiExec is to download and run MyUninstaller and look in the "Uninstall String" column. You should see something like this next to each Windows Live program...

MsiExec.exe /X {92EA4134-10D1-418A-91E1-5A0453131A38}

Copy-and-paste these into a batch file and then add the /QN switch onto the end. MsiExec won't do anything if the program isn't installed, so you don't have to check if it exists first.

:: Windows Live Movie Maker
MsiExec.exe /X {92EA4134-10D1-418A-91E1-5A0453131A38} /QN

:: Windows Live Mail
MsiExec.exe /X {9D56775A-93F3-44A3-8092-840E3826DE30} /QN

... and so on
