Having sorted out our SSO issue on our Moodle site (thanks for all the help) we are now looking at the shibboleth issue.

Can someone point me at something that will tell me how to set up shibboleth authentication on our moodle installation which is on our Server2008R2?

I have searched the moodle forums but cannot find anything that I can understand! :(

Come on guys - I know someone knows. The moodle forums tell me that there is a text doc which gives me the info I need - not on my install there isnt - and anyway, would I understand it? Doubt it!

Sorry Can't help with the setup as we don't use Shibboleth. I have a copy of the text file you were looking for though but it seems adding attachments to posts is broken for me at the moment.

If you pm me an email address I can send it that way. (Bit too big to paste here)

I really would avoid Shibboleth like the plague with Moodle.

The auth is horrible at best and not one I've used often with the institutions I support. Also requires code changes to allow manual auth's through the Moodle login.

Can you use alternative methods I.E LDAP rather than Shibboleth?

This is the issue:

We need to be able to get to our pupil data etc ie SIMS from our Moodle VLE.

Currently there is no 'free' way of doing this...

BUT the LA's own pseudo-VLE - MERLIN, has a free SIF agent to connect to SIMS.

So...my boss wants to be able to skip through from our Moodle to Merlin and then SIMS without the users having to log on again. Hence the shibboleth issue.

Unless someone knows something else? We do use LDAP and AD authentication.
