A third (36%) of seven to 10-year olds visited Facebook in the week before the survey was conducted.

 

For 11 and 12-year-olds this rose to 71% of and to 85% for 13 to 16-year-olds.

 

That's an awful lot of under-age facebook users

 

The survey was "of 2,445 children aged five to 16 by Child Wise"... I'm not sure whether this sample is large enough to be indicative across the country. Certainly the (anonymous) survey of children at my own school suggests that the facebook figures are lower.

In my primary school, I would say that at least a third of the year 5s and 6s are on Facebook.

At the middle school, this rises to at least two thirds in years 7 and 8.

I went looking for the source but it's a trifling £1450 + VAT for the actual report (covers a variety of other pastimes too)

 

Not at all impressed by the Parents Outloud comments.. children obviously can't be blamed for anything, it's the insurmountable obstacles preventing parental-child involvement like err.. umm.. err.. dangers lurking on every street corner and.. and.. and.. urmm.. postage stamp sized gardens!

I thought that the age limit only applies in the US?
