It happens more than people care to think. On 7/7 all mobile networks in the UK were disabled (apart from emergency services calls) to prevent remote detonation of devices.

 

That's not right. The ACCOLC was set in place for a short time in the area around Aldgate (1Km) to allow the emergency services access to the network, which had become heavily overloaded. The multi-agency debrief for 7/7 concluded that it was counterproductive to restrict public access to mobile networks, as we rely on them to reassure family etc. but that the public should be educated to keep it short or use text messaging in the vicinity of the emergency.
