Hi,

Suppose you've been invited to have a meet and greet during your first month working in the company by your C-Level executive, what would you ask him/her ?

I'm just the entry level system engineer joining the IT department of financial service company and got no clue of what to ask apart from the technical question that I useeveryday.

Can anyone share some idea here please ?

Thanks.

whats C-Level mean?

lol. no don't ask that, they'll think you're being silly - google it! @rabbie = chief level i.e. CEO COO ...

talk about vision, and the future.

do they think the it department will grow with the company, move offsite to hosted datacentres, what impact does the economic climate have on the company and the sector as a whole, in terms of how it will affect jobs at the company.

LOL. yes it's the CIO or the managing director who'll organize this meeting.

@vikpaw: yes hopefully that doesn't sounds like a is-my-job-secure kind of question (-_-)"

@albertwt - true, make sure you word it correctly. i just wanted it to sound like you're interested in the business / market, and need to relate it back to your area.

it all depends on what the company does and what the IT is like. could be worth asking about vision with regard to putting services in the cloud... if you don't do that already. adding additional services for your clients, perhaps horizontal expansion or even vertical.

C-Level is what you get if you fail your A-Level and B-Levels.

But seriously there are two ways of thinking about it

a)if you are entry level and it is a meet & greet perhaps don't ask anything unless asked yourself after all it should only be a short introduction it's perhaps not the best time to set out how you would reorganise the dept.

b) if you are burning with ambition and have good ideas this is your chance to shine.

Seriously don't do A unless you want to be cut at next round of job losses.

Best advice so far I found is here: -

Yeah but equally announcing your plan at a Board Meeting to dump Windows / MS Office / Ethernet and move to Chrome OS with Wireless everywhere (or for example any another ill thought out idea) is not going to do your career any favours.
