The problem one of my users is getting is when he tries to print pupils timetables. Errors are attached. I have tried changing the exe files to run in compatability mode. Do you think it would be worth re-installing it? Rob

Rob It should work, installed on a 64bit last week. Make sure it's fully patched with .Net frameworks first, where did it install the Sims .net folder? Program files or Program files (x86) ?
ChrisH Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 The error in question is likely to be a 16 bit component. You will have the same fun if you try and run T4. If this is the problem then you will not be able to fix it as 64 bit can only do 64 & 32 bit like 32 bit can do 32 and 16.
rob998 Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 If you are running on Win 7 64 bit and it is working can you confirm you can do the following: Reports > Print Timetables > Student Timetables > Pick any pupil get right to the end and print (that is when we get the error) Rob

Hassle Phil Neal when it'll be ".net'd" Am i right in thinking that even those 'new' .net'd reports / lists / timetables now available in SIMS Reports menu, still rely on the old modules for printing / generation hence this issue? So they were never really ported over, just access given directly from SIMs.

Linfit Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 The routines accessible from Reports>Print Timetables appear to be code lifted straight from Nova-T4. I have been runnning SIMS on 64 bit for some months now and these routines will not work and I wouldn't expect them to. As Hecate says, the new routines which are in Reports>Timetables do work OK though on 64 Bit, and they are probably more useful than the older reports, which I think were included as a bit of a bodge interim fix as schools were being discouraged from using Nova-T4. 1

Sorry to push in but we have recently set up a trust between our curruculum network and the admin network to get to SIMS. My boss should have it installed on his Win 7 machine and it did work, but now it doesnt. LA support have told him about 3 processes or services that he has to stop to make it work (sorry, can't remember which and am in the wrong school). Would the .net framework thing help and should it be in Program files or Program files (x86)? Thanks Our LA seem to think that SIMS won't work with Win 7 yet but you seem to have got it going. Any tips would help.
sted Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 its not the connect.ini file pointing at sims2005 rather than sims2008 is it as i almost always end up with a separate connect.ini for curric pcs with the admin serfers fqdn name rather than short name and im never told when they change things
witch Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Don't think so - the LA guy, who TBF is pretty good - came in and sorted it out and it works fine on the XP machines, both here and in my other school
matt40k Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 (edited) If it's Win7, make sure you have the latest SIMSINST, and r-click, run as administrator. EDIT: Muppet, you have it installed already, have you tried turned off the firewall to see if that fixes it? Edited February 1, 2011 by matt40k
