Hitachi starboard pens

Hi Guys,

 

We have bought 10 Hitachi starboards around 16 months ago and people were complaining that the pens were not of good quality as we have had 5 of the pens fail due to excess pressing on the nib (as the battery runs out the pen gets less responsive and hence more pressure is pressed on the pen)

 

Do any of you suffer from the same issue, just trying to draw the line between a poorly manufactured pen/agressive missuse.

 

I always ask Hitachi sellers when they contact our school and they have had no feed back regarding poor quality of pens and at around 90 quid a throw they don't come cheap!

Not suffered that issue tbh, mostly I get the issue that either the pen hasn't been put in the cradle to charge or on the older pens, the battery hasn't been replaced.

 

If you are having issues, you should speak to Peter Kerrison from Hitachi. He's a good chap who knows all there is to know about the whiteboard products. If you send me a PM I'll give you his contact details.

Hi Gonk, thanks for the quick response, I know Pete and we have met on occasions and is a top bloke, I know personally there is nothing up with the pens when used without extreme pressure, but I have a whole department who beg to differ lol.

Just buy replacement nibs. We haven't had to buy many though because our staff don't use whiteboards often. Our MFL dept was going to order half a dozen pens becuase theirs didn't work properly when really it was the power supplies for the whiteboards.
