Adding a transparent proxy for droids

Currently my school is behind a CLEO router with a 10.20.30.1 address as the gateway I hand out via dhcp.

 

Could I set up a transparent proxy on 10.20.30.5 and redirect everything to proxy.lancsngfl.ac.uk:8080 via the normal 10.20.30.1 gateway and use DHCP to hand out 10.20.30.5 as gateway for all other clients.

 

So at end of day my Desire can get out on the web via wifi

 

Or would I need to NAT all the clients on the network and stick 2 net cards into the transparent proxy?

 

Anyone doing this BTW?

Yes - in theory that should work; as long as you don't have any form of authentication on your 10.20.30.5 box

You might not need to do that, using TransProxy3.08beta.apk from http(s) proxy support (web, maps, etc) - xda-developers

I came across it this morning I dont know if it works. I was gonna test it but I forgot my cable

Any ideas on rooting HTC desire on T-Mobile? everything I've seen is for either "Desire Z" (the keyboard variant) or the Desire HD.

Unrevoked should do the trick

That'll give you root- allow you to flash the rom etc.

 

If you want full HBOOT s-off (change system partition tables, etc) you'll need to use alpharev AlphaRev 1.8 afterwards
