TechSupp Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Has anyone found a way to automatically uninstall Google Chrome from their networked PC's. Have a few on the network and it causes havoc as it stops pop ups for some of the software/websites we have it enabled from through the GPO. Looked on the net but cant seem to find any definative answer.

As chrome is something installed in the profile i have my AV set to remove anything called chrome.exe rendering it useless. But then it isn't something i have deployed via MSI - if you have done it that when then you should be able to remove it using the GPO.

Arthur Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 EDIT: Never mind, I forgot chrome installed into the profile. The official MSI installs to %ProgramFiles% (or %ProgramFiles(x86)% on 64-bit versions of Windows).

The kids are usually quite good. Its sophos av.

The kids are usually quite good. Its sophos av. Google have made chrome so it installs in the profile therefore avoiding the need for permissions. Hence the reason i have used the AV to delete chrome.exe. Also i have blocked .exe and .msi from being downloaded. As chrome is not installed on the pc but in the profile i don't think it appears in add/remove programs.
CyberNerd Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 you might be better off just installing it site-wide by GPO, that way (as previous poster mentioned) it installs in program files, and you can control it more easilty by GPO
