mcgrath383 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Hi all First time poster! Just wondering do any schools use two factor authentication for access to MIS for some or all users or not at all. Thanks in advance Paddy
matt40k Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Via the VLE? For Staff yes, using one of those one time token key things. For SIMS app, no, 'cause if you can get on a machine with SIMS on it, log into Windows, you've already completed a ton of security and been recorded on CCTV and so on.
mcgrath383 Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 thanks for your response, do you mind me asking which vle you use? thanks again
RobFuller Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Yes we do for all staff, students and Parents gaining access to anything remotely via TMG using a RADIUS server.
SteveB Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 We use Actividentity Key fobs for Tutor access to SIMS data via SLG, but parents are only given a username and password, although sensitive pupil data (addresses, phone numbers etc) are hidden to the parent user by default.
vikpaw Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Any further views on this, in light of recent DPA issues?
