penfold Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I'm trying to setup my San Fran phone running 2.1 to be able to access my work email. I used the default email app and couldn't get it to sync as it was throwing up an error about incompatibility (with security i think). Anyway I gave up and installed K9 and managed to get it setup but, when i try to sync with my inbox it doesn't pull down any emails. It does not show any error messages at any point, just that it is polling for emails and then just shows a blank folder. Checking the incoming and outgoing servers go through fine, but I just dont seem to be able to pick up my inbox. However if I send an email it works fine. I assume I have just missed a simple setting, but can't see where. Any ideas?
creese Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Not sure if this is any help, but I use Gmail.... the App that is. It allows several accounts to be set up. It's much better than the default App.
localzuk Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 What system is your work email running? Exchange?
gshaw Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Have you installed your Exchange SSL cert on the device?
penfold Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 I do use Gmail for my personal email and it works fine, but I wanted a second email account which I could access for work. We do use exchange, but I hadn't installed the cert on my phone. I have tried this morning, but it looks like my phone doesn't like it as I cant get it to install. It either doesn't see the file at all or doesn't recognise the format. Bit of a pain as I was hoping to get my work email on it, but I might have to leave it for now as I have other things I need to do
gshaw Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 (edited) I can't remember exactly how I did it but I've got the SSL certificate in the root of the SD card (also install AndExplorer so you can browse your card via Android) There may have been 1 more step but I'll post it as \ when I remember what it was Edit: got it, go to Settings > Security > Install from SD card and that should do the trick (restart your phone for it to take effect before trying the Exchange setup again) Edited January 10, 2011 by gshaw 1
penfold Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 I got it sorted now, turns out I was using the wrong server settings:getmecoat:
