Our LA has started doing it now and i've never had much luck with backups here so its something i am considering... **Silly question alert!** Though it sounds like a good idea im slightly confused by how it works, can it be used to recover individual documents lost ect?! How would you do that? lol

Link2ICT just installed some software (can't even think what it is off the top of my head) and away it goes. If you need to recover something then just log a call and it reappears shortly later. Worth double checking what the response times are though. 4 hours is fairly normal, but they might have it down as 4 days 1
sted Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 presumably over your internet pipe? we took over a school that had an internet backup system in place and wouldnt you know it raid array dies before we really had time to look at it or make any changes (2 of he 3 disks iirc) so try to download the data (takes forever) tried to get it on physical media diddnt work well enough for a full restore (iirc we managed to get msot of sims) but it haddnt been set to back up everything so a full restore couldnt of worked (they diddnt back up system state for example). I would perosnally only use it for small amounts of ctirical data as in disster recovery its far too slow to restore any amount of data and anything beyond your contrl mis always a bit questionable

accura2000 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 We have offsite backups through EIS Kent, had our raid pack up in Xmas Hols, i put new raid drives in and set the server back up, they collected it and restored it all like nothing had happened. Works really well but restoring back over the internet is not a good idea which is why they picked up the server and done at their offices just up the motorway.

Backblaze are a US company not a UK company therefore your LEA would have reservations about you storing your data with them. Ben
