mrforgetful Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 Hi, We've been finding ways around Ghost 7.5s SATA problem for ages now but the new PCs we got today wont work with any so I guess it's time to upgrade. We run a GhostCast Server and PXE to the Ghost Boot then image that way, if you get me? Anyway, do I want Norton Ghost or Symantec Ghost? I believe Norton Ghost 10 is for home use and Symantec Ghost Solution Suite is for my needs, is that correct? A quick response would be great as Finance will not order anything after today for a month or two (end of year silly procedure).
ConTheITGuy Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 I too am looking at Symantec Ghost Solution Suite - that is certainly the "enterprise" edition. I belive the licenses are around £7-8 per machine (though I haven't got an actual quote just yet). Andy

Guest frances Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 I have managed to have some sucess with Norton Ghost and SATA, by running Norton Ghost under Freedos. Freedos has some SATA drivers for harddrives, although it does not work with SATA DVD drives. I boot up the computer using Freedos instead of MS DOS. There are links to SATA DVD drivers on the Freedos website, but I don't have technical knowhow to know how to edit the autoexec.bat, config.sys on the live CD. Last time i checked there was a patch for the SATA issue fro 7.5 courtesy of symantec tech support. Am I missing something ? Although i agre it would be worth you upgrading to GSS.
zag Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Hasn't ghost been superseded by Acronis these days as the imaging software of choice? I know it certainly has in the single use market, but I have not tried their enterprise software yet.
