Slow startup for Keyboard on macbook

Hello,

 

Dont know if anyone has any ideas on this.

 

When the macbook starts up, the trackpad works fine and Caps lock is working but the keyboard or clicking on the trackpad is inactive.

 

However if i wait ten minutes then everything is working fine, but cant see anything to cause the delay.

 

Any ideas?

Not sure what you mean by the Trackpad is working fine but clicking isn't. Do you mean you can move the pointer but clicking doesn't do anything? I would find the original OSX install DVD, boot from that (put it in the machine and restart, holding down C until the OS starts to load). If your keyboard works it will recognise the "C" you're pressing. It will take ages to boot, but then you can test the trackpad and keyboard properly within that DVD based system. If it all works fine you may need to re-install the OS. If it still doesn't work you may have a hardware fault, and should take the Mac to a service centre to have it checked out.

yes i did mean i can move the pointer but have no click from the trackpad.

Morning,

 

I tired your suggestion and the macbook did indeed boot to the disk, but still have no control over the keyboard of mouse, i think this one is due for a warranty repair

Hello, I've exactly the same problem. It happened without any symptom or anything. I've tried everything including switching RAM's, but no luck. Were you able to solve your problem?

As ours were still under warranty i returned ours to our local Apple store

Thank you for your answer. Were they able to tell you what the problem was? Have they replaced anything like the topcase? Maybe you have the repair report.

 

An answer would help very much. My Macbook is unfortunately out of warranty.

Hi, it only actually was sent off just before christmas so not heard back as yet, will chase it up today and when i get a response i will post on here.
