monsterplastic Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I'm having problems installing Sophos on my new Admin server. each time I try running Sophos Enterprse Console.MSI I just get an annoying message back saying: "The wizard was interupted before Sophos Enterprise console could be completly installed" and event is written to the log with event ID 11708. Sophos hasn't back to me yet so I'm wondering if anyone else had had issues like this? I've fished about on the net but not had any joy yet.. here are my specs anyway if it helps Sophos Enterprise Manager v1.3 Windows 2003 Enterprise x64 R2 Dell Poweredge 1900 cheers Lee
monsterplastic Posted February 6, 2007 Author Posted February 6, 2007 1.3 is provided free by our ISP (Leeds Learning Network) The same goes for the vast majority of schools in Leeds
wesleyw Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I believe you need a patch that allows Sophos to be installed properly on R2 servers. Our version of Sophos wouldn't run at all until this new installation was downloaded. However if you're using the older version it may not be at all compatable with Release 2 Wes
monsterplastic Posted February 6, 2007 Author Posted February 6, 2007 would that be a windows patch or a sophos one?
wesleyw Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Sophos I know a shock you'd have expected an MS one lol Wes
StewartKnight Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 except Microsoft would never patch anything that didn't affect them!
tosca925 Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Glad I red this, we are thinking of moving our Sophos to a R2 server
monsterplastic Posted February 7, 2007 Author Posted February 7, 2007 I've just had this back off Sophos - might be useful to some of you According to the details you have provided, you are attempting to install the Enterprise Console on Windows 2003 64bit edition: unfortunately this is not a supported platform at the moment. The AntiVirus product is fully compatible with 64bit OS's however not the console. If you have a 32bit Windows 2000 or 2003 server please could you install the Enterprise Console to there? Regards, Rhys Vincent Sophos Technical Suppor
spudypaul Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 HI there, I have a similer problem at one of my schools. So very annoying. Have installed it at several other schools without a problem. This server is 32 bit so that shouldn't be my issue. Could anyone let me know if they have any success! cheers
ZeroHour Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I thought 1.3 was EOL as well as sophos v3/4 (expect 98 etc?) You cant get v6 from 1.3 can you? It wont have policies or anything and sophos said all updates for older engines were stopping come the end of Feb and that everyone should be EM 2 and sophos 6 really.
tonyc Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 I had this issue and it after 2 hours chatting to sophos technical support I had a missing or corrupt dll file on the server. I ran the command sfc \scannow and replaced the missing dll from the server disk when prompted. Hope this helps

There's two parts to the Sophos Management tools. EMLibrary (responsible for downloading 'packages') is currently at version 1.3 Enterprise Console (used for policy dev and rollout) is at version 2.
