Here's a couple of challenges for algorithms.

 

Image Analysis for Cosmological Lensing

 

one is to identify the amount of sheer caused by dark matter in gravitationally lensed images of galaxies and you have to account for sheer caused by the telescopes themselves!

 

in order to participate you will require between 400 & 800 GB of data

 

and will be expected to submit 3GB of ascii files detailing the amount of sheer in each galactic image.
