Whether we are the worst for Football violence or not, we should take steps to tackle it - it doesn't need to be all "lock them up and throw away the key", but a little more of the geting theinvolved in sports..

The game has actually been doing a great deal to cut out the tumour that is hooliganism. As a non-football person, I don't expect you to know that. What I do expect, maybe unfairly, is a decent amount of intelligence in a post.

This would give you some background as to where the situation is much worse than England. It will not surprise you to see that the UK has, possibly, the longest entry, but Croatia and Argentina run us close. It may also interest you (though perhaps not!) that since the introduction of mobile phones and the internet, Dutch and German hooligan contact each other for the very reason of having a fight.

Hmmmm...That can't be right, surely?

 

EDIT* As you can guess, I am a fervent football supporter, who would've LOVED to be able to take his, then 14 year old, son to the World Cup in 2018. Do you think I want to take my son to Russia? A country where they STILL throw bananas at African players? Where they unfurl banners of racist intent?

 

Fortunately, most of that has left OUR modern game....But, I await 2018 with bated breath, as Ghana, or some other African nation take to the pitch. At least our crowds would have shown ALL nationalities the respect they deserve.
