Duplicate Default Profile needed

I want to create a copy of our default user profile folder so that I can do some testing and tweaking, but I know I cant just copy the folder (I dont think so anyway) as I want to keep all the existing permissions etc on the folder structure so I can just quickly redirect a test user to using that profile instead of the default one. Whats the best way to create a copy keeping all the permissions and owerships etc. Just tried doing one myself using copy and altering the permissions but seem to have missed something somewhere as at first it would not save any changes and now it gives an error when it tries to load it. Good job its only a test

I think robocopy will do the job for you ... or you could aways recover the folder to the new location from backup

Robocopy using COPY:DATSOU should preserve all the permissions etc, remember that the permissions cannot be set on ntuser.dat this way, you have to adjust these by opening it as a hive in regedit.

There was me thinking I had it cracked! Any more detailed info on how to do that?

Open Regedit, open the HKEY_USERS hive, go File, Load Hive, and select the appropriate ntuser.dat. When it's loaded in (give it an appropriate name) right click the hive, and set the permissions as you would for an NTFS folder. Make sure to set them recursively. Then go File, Unload Hive. Permissions should then be set (this method also works when building mandatory profiles, skips using sysprep).
