Keychain problems

Morning all, not that offay with macs so bare with me, we only have one macbook pro on site and its the principals, she has been having issues lately with safari constantly asking for permission to access the login keychain for the proxy. even if we select always allow it will still keep prompting. Also ENtourage keeps prompting for the user id for access to the proxy.

 

This has only happened in the last couple of weeks previously it was workign fine.

 

anyone had this issue or know how to resolve it?

Don't know what's causing your issue, but have you tried putting the proxy login details directly in to System Preferences? Or is that how you're doing it already?

Quit Safari. Go to user's /Library folder find subfolder called Keychains and delete file login.keychain

Thanks for the reply, just tried this but its still keeps prompting even though im telling it to always allow?

Did you think about creating new profile (login) and transfering data including Microsoft User Data (Entourage) to new account. Do you use a parental control to limit what programs can be run (as constant popups asking for permissons are common when parental controll / Only allow selected applications is active). You can also try to run repair disk permissions in diskutility...

There is a program installed on the Mac that deals with Keychain problems.

The user will need admin access to run it.

I can't for the life of me remember where it is, or what it is called though (sorry) but you will find it in a sub folder of your 'programs' folder, maybe called "utilities"?

I think it is simply called "Keychain"... ?

 

As that user, you access it, and remove the relevant keychain entry.

 

The problem you describe is often caused by the login password being changed by someone other than the user, i.e a network admin changing the password when the password has been forgotten.

 

There is info about this on Google. Just search for "change user keychain" or similar.
