ASUS are not playing fair.

ASUS have done the trick that Samsung pulled with the NC30 a couple of years ago - sell a nice device (1000P 10 inch netbook) with plenty of battery life 4400mAh for a reasonable price- then drop the price but ship an inferior battery (2200mAh)

 

What's worse, is that once the customer (e.g me) says thats not what I ordered (and different to the previous 16 I've already bought last month) ASUS said yeh we know that our blurb said it was a 4400mAH 3 cell 5 hour battery but everyone knows that you need 6 cells to acheive 4400mAH so you can't complain and make us ship you replacement computers or batteries

This is despite my hard working supplier trying their best with them.

 

My supplier is now left with the problem of an unhappy customer and left to hang to dry by the manufacturer.

 

And 2 of my schools have netbooks sitting in boxes unable to be deployed

 

So if your listening Mr ASUS - this is not how to deal with customers and I'll be voting with my (well my 7 schools) wallet in future!

hmm , well normally the supplier would take them back as they are not as you requested and they can deal with there asus account manager direct,

We had a similar problem with ASUS. We ordered 36 of the new 1215n's through our supplier and just before they were due to be delivered into the country they tried to charge us another £50 per unit above the agreed price. Needless to say we told them to poke it where the sun doesn't shine and went elsewhere.

its pretty simple Si lol pardon the pun there fella, but if you have ordered a particular specification and recieved a different spec then send the netbooks back, you are fully within your rights as a consumer!

I just recieved 10 Asus 1000PE's and they all have the 4400 battery. Maybe they dropped the spec on the P due to the PE coming out?

My supplier is providing me with complete replacements but ASUS just washed their hands of the affair[edit] they've now un-washed them [/edit] even though they mis-advertised their product (they said it was 4400mAh and it wasn't )

Ha, doesn't beat Asus supplying a laptop tablet that had an error in the bios that wouldn't allow the wireless to come on until after log on. They strung us along for about 5 months saying it must be our network, try this fix, try a different wireless point, it is a feature and made that way until finally we had enough and were ready to send it back. They asked us had we applied all the most recent patches and drivers. Of course I had when we first got it & they insisted that I had to check before they would accept it back. Surprise, surprise there was a bios update dated 2 days before that fixed the problem. They then had the balls to try and make out it was our fault for not keeping up to date with fixes!!

the 1005P-BLK009S model does have a 4400mAh 11 hr battery 6 cell and is still available in the channel sounds like your supplier might have actually ordered the wrong model sounds like they ordered 100PX-BLK012X lol

After speaking with Asus directly I am glad to say they have rushed to the rescue. They have confirmed there was a slight discrepancy with the online spec (which has since been remedied) and they have very very kindly offered replacement 6 cell Hi-Cap units for the netbooks in question.

 

Many thanks to all at Asus and to the godlike patience of the OP.

, you are fully within your rights as a consumer!

My point is moot in this case as Asus have done the decent thing, but for future reference the OP isn't technically a consumer. It is a business contract, and his remedy would be through the law of contract and not consumer legislation.
