chipman Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Hi, I'm looking for some software to track internet usage by username and/or station name so linking into active directory. I've looked at securus & it looks way over the top for our needs & is quite expensive so I wondered if anyone is using any software that they can recommend. Thanks
FN-GM Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Do you currently have a proxy server? If you do whats it running?
fawkers Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I can highly recommend Impero Impero - Complete Lab Management Solution
maark Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 i recommend impero as well - does a lot more than tracking - good for keeping students' on task. Securus i found a bit expensive for what it does.
Duke5A Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 (edited) Don't mind setting it up yourself? Use Squid for your proxy, and SARG for reporting. You can set it up to authenticate to the AD so traffic will be logged by user name. It's free, and if you're even semi experienced with a Linux command line it'll take you about 40 minutes to setup from initial load to end configuration. I've been using it since the beginning of the school year and it has been pretty good. I've had some bugs to work out, but nothing that bad really. Edited November 10, 2010 by Duke5A
