WSUS updates failing on student machines

Hi

 

We have got wsus running , updates install fine where the user is a local admin (staff on their laptiops) However when the user is locked down heavily (students) then the updates fail to install.

 

anyone know whatb the problem is?

 

i have spent quite a while looking at this

From my understanding of WSUS and group policy settings they are machine orientated rather than user specific. Have you specified the settings in machine group policy?

You can also tell the updates to install for a limited user. There's an option in the group policy somewhere but other than that I agree with the above that the wsus settings will need to be specified in a machine policy

Can you not schedule the updates to be installed out of hours? Ie when no pupils are on the network.

i think the problem is actullyb the permission required to install the updates whilst the students arer logged on as limited accounrts.

I understand that, but why are you not installing updates outside of peak hours? Makes life so much easier in my opinion.
