SimpleSi Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 (edited) Last night at home and during the day at 2 schools I've had real problems trying to access the forums with timeouts /mangled views. I'm a bit confused now as I can see that others have managed to post all day???? Did something only affect access from Lancs? regards Simon Edited November 25, 2010 by ZeroHour
andy_nic Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 I’ve had a few issues like that, I’ve also has it where I’ve click on post and it’s sat there loading but never loads. Wasn’t sure if it was the site or the internet connection, same with a colleague in the office
mounters Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 I've seen performance issues on the site today as well. Long time to load posts, very few adverts displaying, mangled layouts and timeouts.
ZeroHour Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 (edited) Hmmmm interesting, I will take a gander at the highly thrilling apache logs tonight.... Timestamps are good if anyone experiences it again. EDIT: Hmm it does appear there has been more apache instances starting so I wonder if its capping out. We have headroom to increase the instance limits but I always keep it at the *meets needs* level to prevent issues. Edited November 8, 2010 by ZeroHour

ZeroHour Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 I have been having similar allot today on the site. Also getting allot of 404 messages. Can you post some of the 404 urls so I can check those out. The server has been under a little bit of load but I tweaked things again at around 2-3pm.
FN-GM Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 When i get some more but one was http://www.edugeek.net/forums/
ZeroHour Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Just had it again. Please see the attached Ahh you have noob error message mode turned on. Tools->Internet Options->Advanced->Show friendly http error messages should be unchecked.
ZeroHour Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Just an update for you all, I have changed a setting last night that I think should hopefully prevent the "stalling" issue. It happens to me from time to time when browsing the click seems to stall, other tabs work and reclicking the link usually kicks it off working again but its not load related as when it happened last night all was quiet so I have changed the setting I think that has caused the issue. Let me know if anyone experiences it again.
ZeroHour Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I personally have not had any stall type issues again since the tweaks so I will close the call for now. Please post if you experience it again as I will be tweaking the variable again soon as it has added considerably to the memory usage of apache.

ZeroHour Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Hmm there are a few issues with load currently due to vbulletin 4.10 upgrade and basically things stall mid page but I am going to run some tests this weekend. Will update when I think its sorted.
