Skipping openoffice welcome screen?

Just wondering, is there an easy way to get a Mac to skip the openoffice welcome screen, you know the one where it invites you to register etc. I did this on windows by including the OpenOffice settings within the mandatory profile, but is there a simelar way I can do this on a mac as I don't really want it coming up every time a student runs it.

 

We have an OSX server to control them with, so if it can be done using some clever trickery I'm all ears, as I'm very new to macs on networks.

With Open Office all the individual products are built into one which is why you get the welcome screen.

 

If you want to have it setup similar to Office for Mac down load this http://stuporglue.org/downloads/OpenOffice.org.zip This will give you individual icons for each application which will launch each like office for Mac.

I'm not worried about it going through the launch window to get into the applications, I just want it to skip the screen which invites users to register the products etc. which only has to be run once for each user, but it's still a pain.

Oh ok. That's a simple fix. You just need to register it once yourself then copy the file below to the default user profile. The next time a new user logs in they will be set with the needed files to skip the signup screen.

 

**USERNAME** = the user that you filled out or skipped the signup for Open Office.

 

copy the following files:

 

/Users/**USERNAME**/Library/Application\ Support/OpenOffice.org

copy to ---> /System/Library/User\ Template/English.lproj//Library/Application\ Support/

 

/Users/**USERNAME**/Library/Preferences/org.openoffice.script.LSSharedFileList.plist

copy to ---> /System/Library/User\ Template/English.lproj//Library//Preferences/

 

/Users/**USERNAME**/Library/Preferences/org.openoffice.script.plist

copy to ---> /System/Library/User\ Template/English.lproj//Library//Preferences/

There is another way to disable the wizard. If you download the relevant extension from here, place it into the same folder as unopkg (via "Show Package Contents"), copy the OpenOffice app to all of your Mac's and then run the command below either through Terminal or ARDs "Send Unix Command", the First Start Wizard will never be shown again.

 

/Applications/OpenOffice.org.app/Contents/MacOS/unopkg add --shared DisableFirstStartWzd_ooo321.oxt
