Experienced Unix/Linux systems administrator required to join a small, multi-skilled team within IT Services (Enterprise Systems Support Team). This important technical post will involve directly supporting, creating and maintaining specialist web based services within ESST. Additionally, the post will provide technical expertise and leadership in the implementation, development and maintenance of the Solaris and Red Hat Linux servers used to support services run by the University's Web Services Team. IT Services has a busy and complex production environment.

 

Ideally, the candidate would have significant experience managing systems running services based on Apache, PHP and MySQL with associated skills in writing and maintaining Shell and Perl scripts. Knowledge of Tomcat would be useful. With major portions of the specialist web based service hardware about to be replaced, moving from Solaris to Red Hat Linux, there is need for an experienced, focussed team player with good communication skills, good attention to detail and experience of troubleshooting.
