Can W2k8 R2 RDS work with Linux Clients?

remoteapps? full desktop with fast media support (remotefx?)? or just a plain vanilla remote desktop? Linux has supported RDP for years, I believe the main client is called rdesktop and theres a complete distro, thinstation, that is based around it.

Linux only supports RDP v6. 2008 is V7. but I think it will work backwards compatible for desktop but not remote apps. Edited October 19, 2010 by CyberNerd

Yes, rdesktop quite happily connects to Server 2008 R2. I think rdesktop supports RDP 5-and-a-bit. Connected to a Server 2008 R2 server, rdesktop seemed to be quite capable of pretty decent video performance, and I didn't notice any improvement running Windows XP's RDP 7 client from the same hardware to the same server, so I don't know how much of an improvement RDP 7 actually makes. We wound up using SystemRescueCD instead of thinstation as it seemed to boot on more systems. rdesktop might not support Remote Apps, but it will (and has done for years) let you start an RDP session in a window that makes the running application on the remote server look like a locally running window.
